We are currently recruiting for Support Workers for our fantastic services in Histon Cambridgeshire.

The Poplars offers respite care, and gives adults with learning disabilities a chance to ‘get away from it all’ in a relaxed and supportive environment. How long they stay in their ‘home from home’ and what they choose to do in that time, is completely up to them.

Guests can participate in a range of activities during their stay, for instance, trips to the cinema, bowling or going out to local restaurants for food. We would welcome candidates who are outgoing and would be able to encourage these activities.

This service also offers working in the community with the people we support, helping them learn new skills, become more confident and have greater independence

I have been living in my home for 18 months now and I am getting on well, prior to this, life was a bit tricky and I found having support difficult. I am now supported by The Edmund Trust and they have found me a team who really listen to me, help me live the life I want and help me stay safe.

One of my staff has decided to move on so I am looking for a couple of people to join my team.

I tend to get on well with are those who enjoy being outdoors, are willing to try new things, are enthusiastic but not over the top, are motivated and like more to life than sitting around (although I do like chilling too)

It is really important to me to be independent, I find it difficult when people try and take over and sometimes I can find it difficult to manage my emotions when things go wrong. I need staff who can stay calm, accept that sometimes you just have to go with flow as it helps me move on and be able to fix my problem.

I love going to the gym, going for dog walks, working with horses, playing pool and Darts, going on my Playstation and have recently started going Go Karting.

People who support me well tend to be calm, patient, consistent, stick to the plan and will always the truth.

Healthy eating and exercise play a vital part in my life so being able to cook is crucial.

I get really worried about having new staff, I can take some time to be myself but if you hang in there, we will definitely have some good times.

I’m looking for a couple of people who could do between 16 – 40 hrs a week and are happy to sleep in. If you wanted a full time contract you could support me for part of your hours and support other people in Ely area or Milton area.

We are currently looking for a new team of people who will be open, honest and have a real commitment to supporting people to maximise their independent skills.

We are looking to recruit staff who are active, can think outside the box, have experience in behaviours that challenge and Makaton.

The guys moving in have a wide range of interests which include going to the Gym, music, going to the pub and supporting to see family and so much more. We are looking for people who share these interests and are proactive in helping people try new things. Your role will be a mixture of providing one to one support hours as well as working in home to support the 5 gents.

It is important that you will be able to offer reassurance when people are having a bad day, you will need to be robust, not afraid of a challenge and take each day as it comes.
