Cambridgeshire Mencap Launches Artworks

Artworks Fun!

08/10/2010

Artworks, based at the charity's head office in Fulbourn, is a unique art and crafts group which allows people with learning disabilities to choose from a range of activities, including painting, jewellery making, music, drama and singing.
The service is run five days a week from 10am until 4pm and sessions can be booked by the hour, half or full day with prices starting from 10. Free taster sessions can also be booked by contacting the group directly on 01223 881689 or via e-mail at artworks@cambridgeshiremencap.co.uk
Sessions take place in a spacious activity centre which has a large car park situated directly outside. A typical day at Artworks begins at 10am with introductions to new friends, tea and biscuits and a discussion about the day's activities. Lunch is taken in the lounge area (don't forget to bring some!) whilst watching a film or TV show chosen by the group. Then activities continue throughout the afternoon until we start tidying up at around 3.30pm, ready for pick up at 4pm.
Regular tea-breaks are taken throughout the day. At Artworks we have lots of aprons and encourage lots of noise and mess!
All of the community services Cambridgeshire Mencap offers are funded by voluntary contributions and donations..
