We are holding a recruitment and service launch open day on Wednesday 7 December in March

You are invited to Cambridgeshire Mencap’s recruitment and service launch open day – Wednesday 7 Dec

25/11/2011

Artworks is a new service we will be launching in Fenland in the New year.

The group provides an opportunity for adults with a learning disability living in Fenland to be creative and take part in arts and crafts activities within a supportive and enjoyable environment.

ArtworkThe group is designed by the members – for the members. Together the group will decide what type of activities to do and develop their own arts project. There is a chance to try a wide range of creative activities – from painting to paper mache, jewellery making to music sessions, even drama and singing!

We are currently running a small pilot service on Fridays from our offices in March – 87 The High Street (10am to 3pm).

On the open day we will be running a workshop from our March office (87 High Street) and it will be an opportunity for people to meet Antonia, the Creative Art Tutor who runs our Artworks service. We are also looking for new volunteers and would like to meet people who are interested in volunteering for our new Artworks service or our adult befriending scheme - which is an existing service we offer to local people with a learning disability.Volunteering for either service will only take a few hours a month and it really does change someone’s life!

To find out more about Artworks or getting involved through volunteering please drop in and see us on the 7 December and see what’s on offer: 10am to 12pm, 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm.

We also have plans next year to offer our domiciliary service to local people and will need to recruit local Support Workers to enable this to happen.

Dom careOur domiciliary service provides tailored support so that adults with learning disabilities can live independently at home – whether they need a couple of hours help a week or 24-hour care. Our support staff work with people in their own homes and out in the community providing the support they need to live independently and helping them to access local amenities, such as shops, cinemas, swimming pools and other leisure facilities. Support staff also support people to improve their own living skills and build their confidence and self-esteem.

If you think you could make a difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities and are interested in working where no two days are the same – come along and see us at our recruitment open day on the 7 December at the Trinity

Church in March (2pm until 8pm). It will be an opportunity for people to find out more about working for us and what’s involved in being a Support Worker.

If you cannot come to our open day event on the 7 December but would like to find out more about our support services, employment or volunteering opportunities please contact us: info@cambridgeshremencap.co.uk or 01223 883130
