The Poplars – Short Break Service

Our short break service for adults with learning disabilities

17/01/2012

The house is situated in the village of Histon on the northern outskirts of Cambridge with regular direct bus route to the centre.  The house provides four upstairs single bedrooms all with en-suite facilities, and one ground floor single bedroom with en-suite facility which is equipped to support wheelchair users.  The house provides separate toilet facilities and a large kitchen, dining room and lounge.

Twenty four hour care is provided through a team of qualified care staff which consists of the Service Manager, Assistant Service Manager, Team Leader and a team of support workers and sleep in staff or night waking staff if needed. Each service user has a key-worker who ensures that their individual care needs as well as social, cultural and religious beliefs are met, and that they take an active part in the community during their stay. Service users are supported to make choices in how they lead their lives and are involved in decisions about how their support is delivered, how they spend their time during their stay and the length of their visits.
