Children and parents were all smiles when boxes of Easter Eggs arrived at the Caldecote Children's Centre where the group meets on the first Saturday of each month.

There were also smiles all round at Befriending Works, an art, craft, music and drama project where young people with learning disabilities meet and form lasting friendships with volunteer befrienders. Based at Cambridgeshire Mencap's head office in Fulbourn,

Befriending Works is a wonderful place for individual expression and creativity, and the members of the group did a wonderful job of decorating and personalising their eggs before taking them home.

Spring time is a time for positivity and new beginnings.  And here at Cambridgeshire Mencap we aim to empower and support people of all ages with a learning disability to live life to the full.  Our work enables people to make friends and feel less isolated, build self-confidence and self-esteem, develop life-skills and gain in independence.

This spring time, we were supported by Cambridge Online Systems Limited who are based on the Science Park on Milton Road.   Motivated by a genuine desire to make a difference to the lives of others, the team at Cambridge Online Systems embarked on their egg hunt well before the Easter break and pulled in all the eggs that we needed.

Cambridgeshire Mencap spokesperson, Emma Holbrook, said, ‘Cambridge Online Systems deserve a big thank you for bringing so much happiness and joy to others.  And, as we move into Spring, it is great to see that Cambridgeshire businesses and charities can work together for mutual benefit whilst having fun at the same time.’
