Four Cambridge Building Society team members are running in the Cambridge Half Marathon on behalf of Eddie’s, a local charity

Business Development Advisers Joshua Turley and Steve Sharp along with Marketing Assistants Alex Causton and Wallis Butterfield have been training for The Cambridge Half Marathon which takes place on 5th March. The team will be running on behalf of Eddie’s – a charity based in Waterbeach which provides support and services for people with learning difficulties.

The Cambridge Building Society is working alongside Eddie’s for a second year in a row. Their donations will go towards the charity’s Family Support Service which provides extra help for parents and carers when and where they need it most.

Alex said “As one of our charity partners this year, Eddie’s asked if anyone would be willing to run on their behalf. I’d fancied a challenge for the New Year so once Wallis said yes, there was no way I could say no despite dreading the thought of running 13 plus miles!”

For Josh, Alex and Wallis, this will be their first half marathon but for Steve – this’ll be his 50th – or as he likes to say, one for every year of his life!

He said “I did the Cambridge course for the first time last year and really enjoyed it. As you’d imagine it’s pretty flat so I’m hoping to finish in a decent time.”

For Josh, the half marathon is a stepping stone for a much bigger challenge in April, when he takes on the Boston (UK) Marathon.

“Doing the half marathon will give me a good feel for how it’ll go on the day when I take on twice the distance. Training’s going well and I’ve set myself a target of getting round in under 1 hour 40 minutes.”

“A big thank you to everyone who donates and has supported us – I know there’ll be people along the route cheering us on which we will really appreciate.”

Good luck to Josh, Steve, Alex and Wallis!
