Local charity, Eddie’s, who offer local support to those with learning disabilities, have spaces available to run the St Neots half marathon. The race, which will be held on Sunday 18 November, is now full so the only way to secure a place now is through a charity like us. The course is renowned as potential for personal bests as its three mile downhill finish allows for some seriously fast times.

To secure an Eddie’s place we ask runners to pledge to raise a minimum of £150. The fundraising team at Eddie’s are ready to support you all the way with fundraising ideas, running vests and PR. If you’ve secured your place already then you can still run for Eddie’s, so please get in touch so that we can start supporting you too.

Money raised through the half marathon will make a huge difference to our small charity either supporting our Family Support Service or our Befriending Scheme.

Our Family Support Service matches one of our volunteers with a family to support a child or young person (up to 19 years). Befriending involves volunteers spending time with their young adult match. Both services are incredibly flexible and up to the volunteer and family to decide when suits them to meet, and what they want to do. It could be going for a walk, watching a film, heading to the park or just having a cup of tea. The Family Support Service especially really provides a break to the family, often meaning the family can spend a bit more time with other children.

Helen Thurley, Head of Services at Eddie’s, said: “Our services are lifelines to our members but can only continue to run if we raise enough funds. We’re incredibly thankful to our fundraisers. Being a small charity every penny raised counts and makes a difference to us. We look forward to welcoming runners to Team Eddie’s.”
