Holiday Inn, Impington, present Eddies with 1,000

Last Friday, 19 October, staff from the Holiday Inn Impington joined together to present Eddie’s, with a cheque for £1,000 following a fundraising event and donation. The money raised and donated will go specifically towards a new hoist chair for the charity’s Windmill Hydrotherapy Pool, based in Fulbourn.

The fundraising and donation was inspired by former colleague, Joy Hopkins, who worked at the Holiday Inn for over 20 years. She has developed health issues that are supported by her regularly using the pool.

Now the Holiday Inn plan to provide work experience opportunities for those on Eddie’s Catering and Hospitality course, and work with Eddie’s gardening group on a project, as well as offering other fundraising opportunities to the local charity.

Robin Hutton, General Manager, Holiday Inn Impington, said: “We were keen to support Eddie’s as it’s a local charity doing such important work in the community and also we wanted to support our former colleague Joy. I’m looking forward to welcoming the Catering and Hospitality course students into our team.”

Helen Thurley, Head of Services at Eddie’s said: “We’re hugely thankful to all the staff and customers of the Holiday Inn who have supported this fundraising. The hoist chair will really help those who use the pool. We’re incredibly pleased also that the Holiday Inn has chosen to continue supporting us with work experience and fundraising opportunities. As a small charity we rely on partnerships such as these and this will make a big difference to us”
