Eddies gardening group works alongside Holiday Inn staff on gardening project

Last week Eddie’s gardening group joined forces with Holiday Inn, Impington, staff to revamp the Holiday Inns courtyard. It was a brilliant chance for the group to work on a new project.

Eddie’s gardening group service gives people with learning disabilities the chance to do an activity they enjoy in the open air and make friends in the process. It also allows members to learn useful skills and develop confidence and independence. Currently the group works on their allotment, around Milton and at Anglesey Abbey, so the experience of working at the Holiday Inn is a brilliant addition.

Helen Thurley, Head of Services at Eddie’s said: “We’re very thankful to the Holiday Inn for this opportunity. The Holiday Inn has fundraised for us recently, offered our Catering and Hospitality students work experience, and now is reaching out to our gardening group – we’re hugely grateful. It’s all making a big difference to those accessing our services – everyone thoroughly enjoyed today.”

Robin Hutton, General Manager, Holiday Inn Impington, said: “We were keen to support Eddie’s as it’s a local charity doing such important work in the community. It was a pleasure to welcome the gardening group on site today, they’ve done a superb job and we look forward to doing more with Eddie’s moving forward.”
