What we do

We’re an important, local provider of community services and support to children, young people and adults with learning disabilities and family carers in Cambridgeshire. We aim to help the people we support with increased confidence, more effective social inclusion, improved skills, and reduced financial and social hardship. To achieve this, we offer a wide range of activities which include:

  • A young people’s befriending service through which volunteers provide friendship and support to young people with a learning disability aged 13 to 25.
  • A family support service where volunteers give practical support to families of young children with a learning disability (usually under 13) and to the children themselves.
  • Daily ‘Artworks’ sessions, providing opportunities to take part in arts, crafts and drama sessions.
  • A catering and hospitality course for young adults with access to work experience.
  • A pre-school music therapy service and a Down’s syndrome parent-led support group.
  • Theatre arts workshops for young people to explore their creative talents.
  • A gardening project for adults offering supported volunteering opportunities in National Trust properties.
  • A hydrotherapy pool for people lacking mobility to experience beneficial physical activity opportunities.

Our community-based activities help people with learning disabilities to do the things they enjoy, make new friends and learn new skills.
