Hydrotherapy pool

The Windmill Hydrotherapy Pool in Fulbourn, Cambridge is specifically dedicated to people with learning disabilities and physical support needs.

The hydrotherapy pool is designed with physical aids to allow easy access into the water. We offer sessions for everyone ranging from toddlers to the elderly, and individuals who need short term rehabilitation to those with severe disabilities who require regular hydrotherapy sessions.

Sessions include:

  • Individual and group sessions designed to meet our visitorsí specific needs
  • Mobility sessions to help with long term disability and recovery from injury
  • Private hire for birthday parties and other fun events
  • More detailed information on our Pool Parties and PhysioExercise sessions can be found below.


Currently PhysioExercise sessions are run:

  • Monday - 9am-10am and 18.30pm-19.30pm, Tuesday - 7.30am-8.30am and 9am-10am, Thursday - 9am-10am, Friday - 9am-10am.
  • All equipment is provided and includes floats, dumbbells and resistance equipment.
  • All sessions are independently exercise based meaning that if a physiotherapist is required then this would need to be arranged by the client.
  • No booking is required for the sessions.
  • All sessions are on a £6 pay as you go basis or you can purchase a loyalty card which is 12 sessions for the price of 10 at £60. Sessions are inclusive of changing time.
  • Please note: The sessions are on a casual basis meaning there is no need to book, however it is subject to a maximum bather load of 20 people so entry may be refused should we reach capacity.

Pool facilities

  • The pool is 10 metres by 5 metres with a constant depth of 1.2 metres and the water is kept at a recommended hydrotherapy temperature
  • We have male and female changing areas with two changing/shower beds each.
  • Our pool is equipped with two high quality remote hoisting systems. The remote tracking systems extend from both changing areas to the pool. It allows us to transfer a person from their wheelchair onto the shower bed and then into the pool with ease.
  • A manual hoist allows us to ease those visitors into the pool who find walking or climbing stairs difficult
  • All sessions are supervised by fully qualified life guards
  • Our sound and lighting system is available on request
  • On site parking

Our warm and friendly facility is enjoyed by a large number of people from all over East Anglia.

Pool Parties

Pool Party

  • The Windmill pool is available for private hire for pool parties and costs ¬£99.
  • Pool parties are for up to 16 swimmers with inflatables, toys, music and lights.
  • Each session's hire includes the use of the adjacent school hall. The pool session is for 45 minutes with an additional 60 minutes in the hall.
  • Any swimmers under eight years old or any non-competent swimmers are to be accompanied in the water by an adult over 18 years old in a ratio of two children to one adult. The accompanying adults count towards the total number (16) of swimmers allowed.
  • Use of the school hall is included and this will be set up with the relevant number of tables and chairs for the party. Adequate space is left for any party games that the group may wish to play however all party games and food are not included and are to be provided by the hirer.

The pool is located at the junction of Hinton Rd and Fulbourn Old Drift, adjacent to 51 Hinton Rd. It is next to the Cambridge Steiner School.
